Designed to earn its place on your fleet

Put existing machines to work all year.

Work ahead of the tyres

Front mounting gives a direct view of the brush and avoids compacting loose material under the carrier before sweeping it. It also helps you approach kerbs, corners and obstacles.

Move bulky material

The five spiral rows leave space for soil, leaves and other debris to move between the bristles. The large roller supports routine cleaning and suitable remedial work, with collection when material must leave the site.

Follow the surface

Pendulum suspension and independently adjusted gauge wheels help the roller maintain useful contact over uneven ground. Set contact carefully so the bristles work without excessive bending or downforce.

Start with the carrier’s available power

PTO or hydraulic: which route suits your machine?

Drive Choose it when What to check
Mechanical PTO · M Your tractor or outfront mower has a suitable front PTO and lifting arrangement. PTO speed and rotation, shaft geometry, mounting bracket and lift capacity. Hydraulic collector opening or a hydraulic gully brush still needs suitable power and controls.
Hydraulic · H Your carrier has suitable continuous hydraulic implement power, or a purpose-designed hydraulic power installation can be supplied. Current H models list 20 L/min. The category specification lists 180 bar; confirm pressure, return, flow control, cooling, couplings and additional functions as a complete circuit.

Horsepower alone does not establish compatibility. Lift geometry, loaded capacity, the mounting interface and the actual PTO or hydraulic supply determine the installation. Avoid assuming every variant of a tractor or mower has the same services.

Connect the carrier, power and attachment

The bracket is part of the working system.

For a tractor, plan the complete chain: tractor → front linkage → PTO or hydraulic power → ABR mounting bracket → KM 45 sweeper. Most attachments do not bolt directly to the linkage.

1

Lift and interface

Identify the exact front linkage, Quick-Tach system or mower lift arms. Check the total load and its distance ahead of the carrier.

2

Correct ABR bracket

Select the bracket for that interface. KM 45 product pages list options for Category 0/1, John Deere Quick-Tach and two-point front mowers.

3

Power the roller

Specify the PTO or hydraulic connection for the chosen drive. Some mower installations use a PTO-powered hydraulic system; have the whole arrangement confirmed.

4

Operate the options

Plan collector opening, angling and gully-brush controls together. Dust suppression also needs a suitable 12 V electrical connection.

Width, clearance and loaded capacity

Choose against the real working space.

Check the complete assembly through gateways and around obstacles. Angling reduces the width covered across the direction of travel; a gully brush adds extra width. Brackets, collector, water and debris also affect the load.

Measure the installed machine

The current product specifications list a basic length of 79 cm and a height of 73 cm. These dimensions do not describe every bracket, collector or carrier installation.

Include the collected debris and water in the lift-capacity check. A 100 litre tank adds roughly 100 kg of water before the tank, pump and mounting hardware.

Basic weights and dimensions are published figures. Confirm the supplied build and complete fitted dimensions before ordering.

Set the brush to work effectively

Good contact matters more than downforce.

Adjust the gauge wheels

Set the roller level and use enough bristle contact to clean effectively. Excessive bending reduces performance and increases wear. Follow the operating instructions for the surface and brush fitted.

Match speed to the job

Travel slowly enough for the roller to lift the material. Use suitable brush speed for heavy debris, lighter material or snow; the correct drive configuration determines how speed can be controlled.

Collect the growing layer

Removing soil, leaves and organic debris helps limit the damp layer that supports weeds and moss. Keep drainage edges clear and use a suitable weed brush for established growth.

For artificial turf, distinguish routine grooming from powered contamination removal and infill work. Water-based hockey, sand-filled and rubber-crumb surfaces need surface-specific brush and collection settings.

Before you specify the installation

Your KM 45 questions answered.

Does the KM 45 attach directly to my tractor linkage?

Normally a suitable ABR bracket connects the sweeper to the carrier’s linkage or lift arms. Match the exact interface and drive arrangement; a front linkage alone is not the complete installation.

Does a PTO sweeper need hydraulics?

The main roller uses the specified PTO drive. Hydraulic collector opening, hydraulic angling or an ASH gully brush may need additional hydraulic services. Some mower installations use a PTO-powered hydraulic system; confirm the supplied arrangement.

What hydraulic supply do the H models need?

Current H product pages list 20 L/min, and the series specification lists 180 bar. Confirm continuous-duty capacity, pressure, return, couplings, cooling and accessory controls for the complete installation.

Is a collector included in the sweeper price?

The prices shown are separate sweeper and accessory listings. Specify the matching collector, hydraulic opening controls and mounting bracket in the quote. A legacy package offer may have different contents.

Is a 165 cm collector available?

The SSB 16545 K is listed with hydraulic emptying and a current price. Confirm availability and suitability for your sweeper before ordering.

Can I use the mechanical or hydraulic gully brush?

The ASM 4045 KM uses mechanical belt drive. The ASH 4045 KM uses hydraulic drive; its listing describes built-in sweeper hydraulics on H models and a separate hydraulic service with return on M installations. Confirm the correct combination.

Will more brush pressure improve cleaning?

Excessive contact bends the bristles and can reduce cleaning performance while increasing wear. Set the independent gauge wheels and follow the manual for the fitted roller and surface.

Can it maintain artificial turf or clear snow?

Suitable powered sweeping can remove contamination and loosen or redistribute appropriate infill. Turf needs surface-specific settings. For snow, choose the brush and drive setup for the conditions; deeper or heavier snow may call for a plough or snow blower.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Kersten KM 45 Sweepers are professional front-mounted sweepers recommended for compact tractors (15-25hp). They are lightweight and easy to handle, utilizing a Cat 0 front linkage system or Outfront Mower lift arms. They feature a Ø 45cm, five-row combi brush that moves large, heavy debris with ease. Sweeping height is precisely adjusted by individually positioned heavy-duty gauge wheels. These brushes can also be fitted with a collector box and gully brush for comprehensive cleaning. The sweepers are driven from the tractor front PTO, include garage stands, and have a folded steel frame construction.

When maintaining asphalt and tarmac, a sweeper is ideal for removing loose debris, leaves, and dirt from surfaces and gullies, especially with a collector box to prevent buildup and moss/weed growth. Pedestrian sweepers also come with a de-moss brush for existing moss. A weed brush is best for tackling established weeds and moss that have penetrated the surface, which can cause cracks. For comprehensive maintenance, it is recommended to use both: start with a weed brush for existing vegetation, then follow with a sweeper to clear the surface and prevent further issues, ensuring effective debris management and surface integrity.

The Gully Brush is a specialized attachment for Kersten sweepers designed to manage debris in challenging areas such as edges, gullies, and kerbsides. It efficiently pulls dirt, leaves, and other debris from these hard-to-reach spots directly into the path of the main sweeper brush. Once in the main brush's path, the debris is collected by the sweeper and deposited into a collector box. This ensures a comprehensive clean, helps achieve a polished finish by clearing crisp, clean edges, and is crucial for effective debris management, preventing issues like weed growth.

Watch the 40cm Gully Brush in Action with the Kersten Sweeper

Weeds thrive on tarmac and asphalt surfaces when detritus, such as leaves and twigs, accumulates in gullies and along pavement edges. This buildup creates a medium for weed growth. Once established, weed roots can penetrate the surface, leading to cracks and eventual pothole formation. To prevent this, regular use of a gully brush and a powered sweeper with a collector box is essential. This clears debris from edges and gullies, stopping detritus from rotting and providing a breeding ground for weeds, thus maintaining surface integrity and preventing costly damage.

The frequency of replacing sweeper brushes depends on the amount of usage and the type of debris encountered. Regular inspection is recommended, and brushes should be replaced as soon as you notice signs of wear, such as reduced cleaning performance or uneven bristle wear. Replacing the brush on your Kersten sweeper is crucial for maintaining peak performance and efficiency. Over time, bristles wear down, diminishing cleaning effectiveness and potentially damaging surfaces. Regular replacement ensures continued high performance in removing debris, moss, and tough dirt, preventing equipment damage, and guaranteeing consistent, reliable cleaning results.
