Kersten KE-Series Power Harrows
Prepare an even seedbed without bringing a tractor onto every job.
Turn a Kersten UBS power unit into a compact soil-preparation system for lawn renovation, reseeding and new grass establishment. Choose from 75, 90, 100 and 125 cm working widths, then add the ASS 090 seeder where you want to cultivate and seed in the same operation.
Start with the result
What are you trying to leave behind when the machine has passed?
The KE power harrow is designed for soil preparation before seeding. The useful question is not simply “which width?”, but whether you are creating a fresh seedbed, repairing damaged grass or trying to combine cultivation and seed placement into one efficient pass.
Create a fresh seedbed
Break and level prepared soil so the surface is fine and consistent before grass seed is introduced.
Choose a harrow width →Repair worn or disturbed areas
Work localised ground where lawns, verges or amenity grass need to be re-established after damage, construction or heavy wear.
Compare compact widths →Cultivate and seed together
Add the ASS 090 so seed is metered onto freshly prepared soil as the harrow completes the seedbed.

Four widths for different access, output and carrier setups.
All four machines follow the same seedbed-preparation principle. Move up in width when the site is open enough to benefit from greater coverage; stay narrower where access, manoeuvrability or machine matching matter more.
Compact access
KE 075 M-U 70 — 75 cm
The narrowest current KE-Series option for confined renovation work, restricted gateways and sites where a larger working width would make the machine harder to position.
Choose it when: getting into the job is more important than maximum output per pass.
Balanced all-round width
KE 090 M-U 70 — 90 cm
A strong general-purpose choice for professional lawn renovation, combining useful area coverage with a compact footprint. The current product page specifies compatibility with UBS Hydro 13, Hydro 16, Alpin and Alpin Pro.
Choose it when: you want the clearest match to the ASS 090 seeding system and a versatile renovation width.
More coverage
KE 100 M-U 70 — 100 cm
A metre-wide power harrow for teams that want more output while keeping the compact UBS format. The current product page specifies Hydro 13, Hydro 16, Alpin and Alpin Pro compatibility.
Choose it when: sites are open enough for a metre-wide attachment and reducing the number of passes matters.
Highest published KE width
KE 125 M-U 70 — 125 cm
The widest current KE-Series option shown in Kersten’s pedestrian catalogue, intended for larger prepared areas where output per pass is more important than minimum attachment width.
Choose it when: the carrier and access can comfortably handle the extra width and you have enough area to benefit from it.
Power harrow + seeder
Prepare the soil and place seed in one continuous operation.
The ASS 090 is designed to work with the KE-Series power harrow. Seed is carried in a 57-litre hopper and dropped behind the harrow onto freshly prepared ground, while a guide wheel linked to the roller adjusts output in relation to travel speed.
ASS 090
Turn seedbed preparation into a complete reseeding pass.
Instead of preparing the ground, leaving the site and then returning with separate seeding equipment, the combined system can cultivate and distribute seed together. That is particularly useful on renovation jobs where labour, footprints and repeated passes all affect the final result.
- 57-litre seed hopper for practical working capacity.
- Flow-control lever for fine seeding-rate adjustment.
- Guide-wheel drive changes output with machine speed for more even distribution.
- Seed drops onto freshly prepared soil immediately behind the harrow.
A cleaner renovation workflow
Prepare the depth, level the surface, then put seed onto the soil you have just created.
The KE-Series is useful because it turns soil preparation into a controlled sequence rather than simply churning the ground. The front roller, depth adjustment, steel skids and top-link adjustment help the operator create a consistent seedbed before the seeder places seed behind the machine.
Adjust the harrow so the amount of soil disturbance matches the renovation task rather than automatically working deeper than necessary.
The power harrow works the prepared soil while the roller and machine setup help leave a fine, even surface suitable for seeding.
With the ASS 090 fitted, seed is metered behind the harrow so it lands on the newly prepared surface during the same operation.
Choose the right soil tool
Power harrow, grass harrow or gravel renovator?
These machines can all be described as “harrows” or surface-working attachments, but they solve different problems. Choosing by the surface condition avoids buying an aggressive soil-preparation tool for established turf — or expecting a light grass harrow to create a new seedbed.
| Attachment | Surface | Main job | Choose it when |
|---|---|---|---|
| KE power harrow | Exposed / prepared soil | Create a fine, level seedbed | You are establishing or re-establishing grass and need to prepare soil before seeding. |
| Grass harrow | Established grass | Lift moss, thatch and cuttings at the turf surface | You want to groom an existing grass surface without cultivating it into a seedbed. |
| WE gravel renovator | Loose or semi-bound mineral surfaces | Work weeds and accumulated material in gravel / crushed stone | The surface is a path, track or mineral area rather than grass-growing soil. |
Before ordering
The best width is the one that fits the carrier, access and finish you need.
Working width alone does not determine the correct setup. Kersten can confirm attachment compatibility, power-unit configuration and whether the combined seeder is appropriate for the job.
What is a Kersten power harrow used for?
The KE-Series is intended to prepare soil for seeding. Its working depth can be adjusted so the harrow leaves a fine, consistent surface ready for seed rather than simply disturbing established turf.
Can I seed at the same time as power harrowing?
Yes. The ASS 090 seeder is designed to work with the KE-Series. It carries seed in a 57-litre hopper and meters seed behind the harrow onto the freshly prepared surface.
Why are there four working widths?
Width changes the balance between access and output. A 75 cm harrow is easier to place in confined work, while 100 and 125 cm machines reduce the number of passes on larger open areas. Carrier compatibility should still be confirmed before ordering.
Is a power harrow the same as a grass harrow?
No. The KE power harrow is a soil-preparation attachment for creating a seedbed. A grass harrow works through an existing grass surface to lift moss, thatch and old cuttings.
Which Kersten power unit do I need?
Current 90 and 100 cm product pages specify UBS Hydro 13, Hydro 16, Alpin and Alpin Pro. Other KE-Series combinations should be checked with Kersten UK so the attachment, drive and carrier are matched correctly.
Plan the whole renovation job
Tell us the area, access, existing surface and what you want to seed.
We can help match the KE working width, UBS carrier and ASS 090 seeder to the job rather than treating each attachment as a separate purchase.
