Each range solves a different operational problem. Kersten makes compact multi-attachment carriers useful in winter, Lehner minimises the electrical and installation burden on almost any vehicle, and Matev builds a configurable tractor-spreader system around precise placement and professional municipal options.
Kersten
Turn an existing compact machine into a controlled winter spreader.
The SLDST 70 family uses the carrier's mechanical or hydraulic power rather than adding a separate engine or complex electrical dosing system. That keeps the attachment compact and makes use of machines already working throughout the rest of the year.
Lehner
Low-current 12 V architecture designed to reduce electrical strain.
Lehner separates the high-speed spreading disc from the slow, high-torque agitator. Each motor is selected for its own job, so the agitator does not have to run at disc speed through damp, compacted salt.
Polaro 70–250 litre tailgate models draw about 13 A in normal operation, with a 24 A maximum starting load. That is roughly 30% of the electrical current required by many comparable electric spreaders, reducing strain on the vehicle battery and charging system.
Matev
A modular professional tractor programme for exact placement or wide coverage.
Matev offers both fixed-width SPR-BX box spreaders and 1–8 metre SPR-DS disc spreaders, with multiple drive, dosing, construction and linkage choices. The range can therefore be configured around the route rather than forcing every application through the same spreading principle.
Technical selection
Broadcast coverage or controlled placement?
A wide disc spreader is efficient across open areas. A box spreader lays material only across its working width, which can be the safer choice beside walls, parked vehicles, planting and sensitive boundaries.
Best where output needs to cover paths, car parks and access roads quickly. Adjust working width to the route and avoid throwing material beyond the treatment zone.
Meter material directly beneath the hopper across a defined width. Useful where salt or grit must not strike vehicles, walls, glazing, planted areas or adjacent surfaces.
Manual dosing suits repeatable routes. Cab-controlled electric dosing enables adjustments on the move. GPS-linked dosing maintains the target quantity per square metre as speed changes.
Kersten systems use the host machine's mechanical or hydraulic drive. Lehner systems need a 12 V supply but no PTO or hydraulics. Matev systems can be configured around mechanical, hydraulic or electric control.

SLDST 70 mechanical pedestrian range
The direct mechanical drive keeps the system simple and robust, using the host machine rather than adding an electric motor or hydraulic circuit. A long stirring system, agitator finger, volume regulator and stainless throwing plate help keep salt, sand and grit moving evenly across compact routes.

SLDST 70 hydraulic pedestrian range
Hydraulic drive provides consistent disc operation from compatible Kersten power units, while the damp-material agitator, clod grid, volume regulation and stainless throwing plate address the real problems of wet salt and irregular grit. It is a compact professional solution rather than a lightweight push spreader.

SLDST 70 ride-on mower range
This configuration makes the FKDR system work at both ends of the carrier: the mower becomes a compact winter vehicle and the spreader is controlled from the existing hydraulic installation. It avoids buying and storing a separate dedicated gritter while retaining damp-material agitation and 0.5–4.0 metre width control.
Lehner Polaro 12 V spreaders

Polaro universal manual-dosing range
The lowest-complexity Lehner format uses manual material dosing at the hopper while the LAS panel controls disc speed and working width. Separate sealed motors let the agitator turn slowly with high torque while the disc runs at the speed needed for the pattern, reducing electrical strain and avoiding the compromise of one motor doing both jobs.

Polaro E electric-dosing range
Polaro E adds a dedicated powered metering gate, so width and application rate can both be changed from the cab. The disc, agitator and gate each perform a separate task, while LAS 4 monitoring adds empty-hopper indication, valve supervision and visual or acoustic fault alerts.

Polaro E-LISA speed-dependent range
E-LISA keeps Lehner's low-current 12 V mechanical architecture but replaces the conventional control panel with app-based management. GPS AUTO-DOSIS changes the valve position as speed changes, preserving the selected grams per square metre and making results less dependent on driver pace.

Polaro M and L in-body range
These loading-bed systems bring Lehner's 12 V, no-PTO philosophy to higher-capacity carriers. Screw-conveyor feed, electronic dosage and programmable controls are packaged for pickups and utility vehicles, reducing hydraulic installation work and leaving the vehicle's driveline independent of the spreader.

Polaro XL high-capacity range
The XL provides the route endurance of a 550-litre hopper without abandoning Lehner's low-current electrical approach. It is intended for sustained winter work where reduced refill time, stainless working components, protected electrics and optional speed-dependent dosing matter more than compact dimensions.
Matev tractor-mounted spreaders
The current Matev programme comprises three fixed-width SPR-BX box spreaders and eight SPR-DS broadcast models. The four broadcast capacities are each offered in ST steel and IX stainless-steel configurations, allowing the construction level to be matched to duty cycle and corrosion exposure.

SPR-BX 80, 100 and 120
The SPR-BX is special because it does not throw material beyond the implement. Its fixed 800, 1000 or 1200 mm placement protects parked vehicles, facades, glazing and planting, while optional hopper extensions increase route capacity and mechanical, hydraulic or electric metering lets the tractor installation dictate the control system.
SPR-DS 125 ST and 125 IX
The smallest SPR-DS combines a compact 125-litre PE hopper with the same professional 1–8 metre control philosophy as the larger units. The shaped hopper and protective grille promote steady flow, while mechanical, hydraulic, electronic or road-speed-related regulation makes it unusually configurable for a small-tractor spreader.
SPR-DS 250 ST and 250 IX
The 250-litre family is the balance point between compact dimensions and useful route duration. It retains the full choice of spread-rate control, Cat. 1/1N/2 attachment options and ST or IX construction, allowing one platform to work on narrow paths, car parks and wider municipal areas.
SPR-DS 400 ST and 400 IX
The 400-litre family adds professional route endurance without changing the core control architecture. A shaped hopper, protective grille, stainless spreading plate and optional specialist agitator support consistent flow, while electronic or road-speed-related regulation can improve repeatability over variable-speed municipal routes.
SPR-DS 600 ST and 600 IX
The 600-litre family is built for long routes and fewer refill interruptions. Its value is not capacity alone: it retains 1–8 metre adjustment, multiple dosing systems, ST or IX construction, optional lighting and cover equipment, and the same material-flow features used across the professional SPR-DS programme.
Lehner reliability in detail
Low current is the result of reducing unnecessary mechanical load.
Lehner does not ask one high-speed motor to spin the disc and force an agitator through damp salt at the same time. The functions are separated so each motor can operate at the speed and torque appropriate to its job.
Polaro 70–250 litre tailgate machines draw approximately 13 A in normal operation and 24 A at maximum starting load. This is around 30% of the current required by many comparable electric spreaders, leaving more electrical capacity available for the vehicle itself.
The disc motor runs fast to set the spreading width; the agitator motor runs much more slowly with higher torque to keep material feeding. Polaro E adds a separate actuator for the metering gate.
The large, slow agitator can work through damp material without the high-speed compaction and electrical strain created when a single motor drives the complete system.
Sealed motors, watertight hard-wired connections, stainless working parts, a positive screw-on lid and accessible service points are intended for repeated salt exposure and winter maintenance.
Lower accessory demand leaves more battery capacity for vehicle traction, lighting and cab systems, making Polaro particularly relevant to electric UTVs and utility vehicles.
Specification sequence
Specify the complete spreading operation.
The machine must be matched to the route, material, carrier payload and required application rate—not simply the largest hopper that fits.
Define the placement zone
Measure the narrowest route, identify boundaries and decide whether material may be broadcast beyond the vehicle width.
Confirm carrier interfaces
Check payload, mounting height, linkage category, hydraulic or mechanical drive, 12 V supply and rear overhang.
Characterise the material
Confirm particle size, moisture condition and density. Damp salt, grit, sand and infill place different demands on the feed system.
Set and verify output
Calibrate the dosage for the chosen material and route speed, then check the real distribution pattern before operational use.

Common spreader-selection questions.
Why choose a box spreader instead of a broadcast disc?
A box spreader places material only across its fixed working width. It is useful beside parked vehicles, walls, glass, planted areas and other boundaries where broadcast throw would create overspread or damage risk.
How many Matev SPR-DS broadcast spreaders are available?
The current range has four hopper capacities—125, 250, 400 and 600 litres—and each capacity is offered as an ST steel model and an IX stainless-steel model. That creates eight broadcast configurations before drive, metering and accessory choices are specified.
What makes the Matev range more configurable than a basic tractor spreader?
Matev combines fixed-width box and adjustable broadcast formats with mechanical, hydraulic, electronic and road-speed-related dosing. You can also select hopper capacity, linkage category, ST steel or IX stainless construction, agitator type, covers, lighting and boundary-control equipment.
What is the difference between Polaro, Polaro E and E-LISA?
Polaro uses manual material dosing with cab control of disc speed. Polaro E adds electric dosing from the cab. E-LISA adds app control and GPS-based AUTO-DOSIS so the target rate per square metre can remain stable as speed changes.
Do Lehner spreaders need tractor hydraulics or a PTO?
No. The Polaro families are driven from a vehicle's 12 V electrical supply. That allows them to be mounted on many quads, UTVs, tractors, loaders, pickups and highway vehicles without a hydraulic or PTO drive.
Why do Lehner spreaders draw comparatively little current?
The spreading disc and agitator have separate purpose-built motors, so the slow, high-torque agitator is not forced to operate at disc speed. Polaro 70–250 litre tailgate models draw about 13 A in normal operation—roughly 30% of the current required by many comparable electric spreaders—helping protect battery capacity and reduce electrical strain.
When is a Kersten 70-litre attachment the better choice?
It is strongest where an existing Kersten pedestrian machine or FKDR-equipped ride-on mower can be reused for winter work. Direct mechanical or hydraulic drive, a damp-material agitator, stainless throwing plate and 0.5–4.0 metre control provide a more integrated compact system than a separate push gritter.
Can these spreaders be used outside winter?
Several families can spread sand, fertiliser or artificial-turf infill as well as winter salt and grit. Suitability still depends on particle size, moisture content and the approved materials for the selected model.
How should hopper capacity be selected?
Balance route area and refill points against carrier payload and axle loading. A larger hopper can reduce stops, but only when the carrier safely supports the full mass of the machine and material.
Why does speed-dependent dosing matter?
With a fixed valve setting, application per square metre changes when vehicle speed changes. Speed-dependent control adjusts the outlet to preserve the selected rate, reducing over- and under-application.
What helps prevent damp material from bridging?
Powered agitators, autostart routines, screw conveyors, steep hopper walls, suitable particle size and moisture-resistant covers all help maintain a consistent feed. Material should still be stored and loaded in an appropriate condition.
