Kersten SULK Series
Cover the long runs without walking every metre.
Turn a compatible Kersten K-Series power unit into a seated working platform for repetitive maintenance on open, even surfaces.
One accessory, a very different working day
Make repetitive open-area work easier to cover.
The SULK-SWH is a trailing seat for compatible Kersten K-Series power units. It is intended for open, even areas where the operator would otherwise spend long periods walking behind the machine.

Kersten K-Series Sulky Seat
The upholstered seat is plastic-covered to resist dirt and water. The drawbar, seat position and footrests can be adjusted so the handlebars and control panel remain comfortably within reach.
Why add a sulky?
Keep the operator with the machine on long, repetitive runs.
The benefit is not simply having a seat. It is reducing repeated walking on large, open areas while keeping normal K-Series controls within easy reach.
Less walking on large sites
Useful where the maintenance pattern involves repeated straight runs across pitches, courts or other broad open areas.
Adjust the working position
The drawbar, seat mounting and footrests can be positioned around the operator so the handlebar controls remain accessible.
Remove it when you do not need it
The sulky can be uncoupled in a couple of minutes, so the power unit can return to normal pedestrian work when the site becomes tighter or more complex.
Where it earns its place
Pair the seat with jobs that involve distance rather than constant manoeuvring.
The sulky is at its best where the surface is even, the route is open and the attachment can work productively over longer passes.

Artificial-turf grooming
Wide-area brushing involves long, repeated passes across sports surfaces, making it one of the clearest use cases for a trailing seat.

Sweeping larger open areas
Use the sulky where sweeping routes are broad and predictable, reducing the amount of walking required during repetitive maintenance.

Selected mowing work
On suitable open and even sites, a seated working position can make longer mowing passes more comfortable and efficient.

A sulky is not the right answer for every K-Series job.
Good sulky territory
- Football pitches and artificial sports surfaces
- Tennis courts and other broad, even areas
- Long straight sweeping or brushing runs
- Sites with enough turning room
- Repetitive tasks where walking distance is significant
Stay pedestrian when...
- The route is tight, heavily obstructed or requires frequent reversing
- The surface is uneven enough to make seated towing inappropriate
- The job involves kerbs, narrow paths or constant changes of direction
- You need maximum manoeuvrability around furniture or landscaping
- The attachment or carrier combination has not been confirmed as suitable
Set-up matters
Put the controls where the operator can use them naturally.
The seat is adjustable because operator reach and posture matter. Before putting the machine to work, set the drawbar length, seat position and footrests so the handlebar controls can be operated without over-reaching.
1. Set the drawbar
Position the sulky far enough behind the power unit for a comfortable seated stance while retaining normal control movement.
2. Adjust the seat and footrests
Use the available adjustment to support the operator rather than forcing a fixed posture for every user.
3. Check the complete combination
Confirm the power unit, attachment, ground conditions and intended route are suitable before using the sulky in operation.

Choosing and using a trailing sulky seat
Which machines is the Kersten sulky designed for?
The current SULK-SWH is sold as a trailing sulky for compatible Kersten K-Series two-wheel tractors. Confirm the exact carrier and attachment combination before ordering.
Where is a sulky most useful?
It is best suited to open, even areas such as football pitches, artificial sports surfaces and tennis courts where the machine can make longer, repetitive passes.
Can the seat position be adjusted?
Yes. The drawbar, seat attachment and footrests can be adjusted so the operator can maintain a comfortable position with the handlebars and control panel within reach.
Is the seat suitable for outdoor maintenance work?
The upholstered chair has a plastic covering designed to resist dirt and water, while the sulky uses large pneumatic tyres.
Does the sulky have to stay attached?
No. Kersten states that it can be uncoupled in a couple of minutes, allowing the power unit to return to normal pedestrian operation where required.
