Kersten HKM 40 rear-mounted sweepers
Put your rear PTO
to work on cleaner surfaces.
A compact, rear-mounted sweeper for tractors with a suitable Category I linkage and 540 rpm PTO. Choose 125 or 150 cm, then add collection, edge cleaning and hydraulic controls to suit the job.
Use the mounting and power already on your tractor
Two widths. A practical rear-PTO route.
Use the tractor’s rear linkage and PTO for routine sweeping and remedial cleaning. Choose against tyre width, gateways, turning space and the load of a full collector — not horsepower alone.
125 cm · rear mechanical PTO drive
HKM 12540 M
Choose it when: you need a compact rear sweeper for paths, drives and smaller premises, and the width covers your carrier in the intended working position.
Listed collector package
Sweeper, mounting frame and collector box. The product page labels this a 2025 package offer; confirm current availability and contents.
150 cm · rear mechanical PTO drive
HKM 15040 M
Choose it when: your tractor and access routes allow a wider pass, with enough lift capacity for the sweeper, collector and debris load.
Listed collector package
Sweeper, mounting frame and collector box. The product page labels this a 2025 package offer; confirm current availability and contents.
Specify what comes with the sweeper. Current product descriptions list a Category I mounting frame, PTO shaft and garage stand. The collector, gully brush and hydraulic options are separate unless included in the chosen package. Photographs show installed equipment with options.
Why choose a rear-mounted sweeper?
Make the tractor you own do more.
Start with the rear linkage
A suitable rear three-point hitch and PTO give you a straightforward mounting and power route. This can avoid the extra front linkage and power installation needed for a front-mounted attachment.
Move bulky debris
The five spiral rows leave space for soil, leaves and other material to move between the bristles. The two-section combi roller and individually adjustable gauge wheels support useful cleaning contact across the width.
Collect the growing layer
Remove loosened soil and organic debris instead of leaving it on the surface. Regular collection helps limit the damp, nutrient-rich layer that supports moss and weeds and obstructs drainage.
Choose against the whole site
Which width suits your tractor and access?
The 125 cm model is narrower and lighter; the 150 cm model covers more width in a straight pass. Check the complete tractor and attachment through gateways, around obstacles and at the intended sweeping angle.
| Model | Working width | Published overall width | Published weight | Angling |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| HKM 12540 M | 125 cm | 140 cm | 122 kg | 20° manual; hydraulic option |
| HKM 15040 M | 150 cm | 165 cm | 140 kg | 20° manual; hydraulic option |
Allow for the full working setup. A collector, gully brush and debris load add to the dimensions and weight. Confirm lift capacity, rear overhang, tyre coverage when angled and the space needed to turn.
When front mounting may suit better. A front brush is easier to watch directly and can sweep before the tractor tyres cross the material. For obstacle-heavy sites or another mounting position, compare the full sweeper range.
Keep power and optional services clear
Rear linkage → PTO shaft → sweeper.
The main roller takes mechanical power from the rear PTO. Tractor hydraulics are needed only for the optional functions that use them, alongside the tractor’s own linkage lift.
Rear Category I linkage
Confirm hitch geometry, lift capacity and clearance with the mounting frame fitted.
540 rpm PTO
Check the supplied shaft, guarding and operating geometry against the exact tractor and lift range.
Sweeper setup
Set the mounting position, manual angling and both gauge wheels for the surface and brush condition.
Optional hydraulic services
Match connections and services to the gully brush, hydraulic angling and collector opening you choose.
PTO drive does not mean every accessory is mechanical. The ASH 5040 M side brush is hydraulically driven even though it is designed for the PTO sweeper. Hydraulic collector opening and hydraulic angling also require suitable tractor services.

Need hydraulic main-brush drive? Kersten also lists an HKM 15040 H hydraulic version. Its page gives a 15 L/min oil requirement and no public price. Confirm current availability, flow, pressure and mounting for your carrier.
Decide what happens to the debris
Collect it or move it aside.
Collect the material when it needs to leave the surface, or use a correctly sized guard when windrowing. Match the accessory width to the sweeper.
Clean the edges and control the work
Three options that change how you operate.
Add the functions that help the operator finish the job. These options have different hydraulic requirements; specify the tractor’s available services with the quotation.
Specify the hydraulic circuit, not just a coupling count. Tell Kersten the available valves, flow, pressure and return arrangement. A gully brush plus collector opening and angling must be checked as a complete combination.
Show the actual replacement part
Keep the brush matched to the task.
Match brush type, diameter and hub to the machine. The current linked combi rollers below are 46 mm hub versions; older machines and parts lists may use a different arrangement.

Before you order
Your HKM 40 questions answered.
Does the main brush need tractor hydraulics?
The HKM 12540 M and HKM 15040 M use a suitable 540 rpm rear PTO for the main roller. Optional hydraulic angling, collector opening and the ASH 5040 M gully brush need suitable hydraulic services.
What mounting frame is required?
The current PTO product descriptions list a Category I rear mounting frame. Confirm the tractor’s hitch, shaft geometry and loaded lift capacity as a complete installation. These rear models do not use the FKDR mower linkage system.
Is a collector included in the basic sweeper price?
The individual sweeper price and the listed collector-package price are shown separately. Confirm the selected package and current offer. The SSB 12540 and SSB 15040 collector pages list matching SPA splash guards as included.
Can the collector be emptied from the seat?
The standard collector uses a manual rope mechanism. The HB-SSB-HFKM kit provides hydraulic opening with a suitable double-acting tractor service. Confirm the supplied emptying arrangement.
Is the ASH 5040 M gully brush mechanically driven?
It is designed for the M-series PTO sweeper, but the side brush itself is hydraulically driven. It requires a suitable hydraulic service and includes variable side-brush speed control.
Which replacement roller fits my sweeper?
Confirm working width, diameter, hub size, part number and machine serial number. The linked 125 110 040 and 150 110 040 rollers are listed with 46 mm hubs; older parts lists may describe different versions.
