Case Study: Sweeper to suit an Avant 530 Loader

The customer for this sweeper needed a machine that was compact and durable, to match their Avant 530 Loader.

The HKM 40 sweeper series from Kersten is an ideal solution to this task, The machine is usually found on the rear of compact and sub compact tractors, but the top mounting point, compact size and hydraulic drive option make it very suitable for small loaders such as the Avant. 

The sweeper can be fitted with a gully brush, which is sprung loaded, allowing it to follow an edge without being crushed against it. The gully brush moves material from the edge infront of the sweeper to be collected.  This combination is ideal for keeping farm yards and roads free from mud and detritus.

One challenge faced with a loader, is protecting the brush and collector from damage, as they can be forced into the ground. 

This is managed by using a floating hitch, accompanied by a handy sight guide that shows where the brush is in relation to the loader. This prevents excess force being put on the brush. There is a front support wheel to prevent the collector box from bottoming out on the ground.

1. HKM 15040 H - 40cm Diameter Sweeper
2. SSB 15040 - collector box
3. ASH 5040 H - gully brush

The HKM 40 range of sweepers is designed to mount on the front of a variety of machines, from about 15-40hp including wheel loaders. It can also be mounted to the rear of a sub compact tractor.

Kersten sweepers are great at maintaining hard surfaces by removing detritus and debris which reduces weed growth and is fundamental to Integrated weed management.
