More money for Exercise

Walk more, cycle more, this is what we are all told to do by the Government. Leave the car at home and exercise, lose weight and be healthy.
The UK Transport Secretary Grant Shapps has announced “a once in a Generation “ a £2 billion plan to boost cycling and walking”, this is part of the £5 billion new funding for cycling and buses announced on May 9th this year.

Danger of Rural Paths

Have you noticed once out of a town, cycling or walking to the next town/village is fraught with problems, it doesn't matter where you go in the country, walking or cycling along a 60mph single carriageway road can be a frightening experience, there is usually no path or cycleway to separate you from traffic. Many present pavements, paths, and cycleways have problems of poor , suddenly ending inconveniently on the carriageway; then getting to the next path (if one exists) is a joy, dodging 60mph traffic is a game many have to play and is even more fun when trying to crossing a 70mph dual carriageway.

Lack of Maintenance

Another major problem is that many paths and cycleways become narrow and slippery due to lack of maintenance. How many times have you seen a pushchair or wheelchair go into the road because the pathway is too narrow ? A real worry of many a cyclist is a flat tyre due to punctures from brambles and hawthorn hedges where cuttings are just left.
Again this lack of maintenance and potential surface deterioration will cost someone in either a lawsuit or renovation.

£2 Billion investment

This £2 billion investment must have an aspect of maintenance built in, it is no good building an infrastructure and saying how good we are! Kersten facilities maintenance equipment the investment last, Kersten UK have the know how to make keep the £2 Billion investment from being wasted. Keeping the surface swept and clean, will keep it safer.
Kersten sweepers and weed brushes either pedestrian or mounted will help solve problems of leaves and surface detritus causing surface deterioration and path narrowing.
All this is achieved by mechanical removal methods working with or without the intervention of a chemical weed control regime.

Kersten Machines have the machinery to upgrade and maintain present and future pedestrian and cycle paths for the next generation.
