Kersten K1500 Weedbrush

When moss and weeds become established on hard surfaces they are difficult to remove with a sweeper. For this application we have made the Weedbrush.

Kersten Weedbrushes have been designed to quickly remove weeds and moss, along with the soil they grow in from hard surfaces like tarmac and block paving. We achieve this with several features not typically found on other Weedbrushes.

The Weedbrush is fitted with Versa-brushes.  These brush sections are composed of two wire types. Thick flat wires are used to cut the weeds and soil from the surface and removes the material; like using many tiny shovels. Thinner wire then sweeps the surface clean.  The more soil that we can remove the longer the surface will remain free of weeds.

The Weedbrush can be angled in all directions for getting into cracks and crevices’.

Using the brush on an angle allows it to penetrate the joints in surfaces such as block paving and cope with cambers.   Brush height and pressure is controlled by an adjustable castor wheel placed close to the brush and a weight on top. This allows the pressure to be adjusted to suit the application, achieving a perfect combination of performance and brush life.

To reduce stone throwing and vibration, our Weedbrushes rotate at very low speeds of between 180 – 400 rpm. Because of the high torque, we are still able to achieve a great finish, but the lower speed gives much less energy to stones and other debris so they are not turned into dangerous projectiles. A protective guard also helps to contain material close to the brush, so the arisings are easy to clean up after Weedbrushing.

Frequently Asked Questions

A Kersten Weedbrush is specifically designed to quickly remove weeds, moss, and the soil they grow in from various hard surfaces. This includes areas like tarmac and block paving where such growths are difficult to remove with a standard sweeper. Its design focuses on efficient and thorough clearing of established vegetation.

Kersten Weedbrushes utilize Versa-brushes, which incorporate two types of wire. Thick flat wires are used to cut and remove weeds and soil from the surface, acting like tiny shovels. Subsequently, thinner wires sweep the surface clean. This dual-action approach aims to remove as much soil as possible, prolonging the period the surface remains weed-free.

The Kersten Weedbrush can be angled in all directions, which is crucial for reaching into cracks, crevices, and penetrating the joints found in surfaces like block paving. This adjustable angle also allows the machine to effectively cope with cambers, ensuring comprehensive cleaning and weed removal even on uneven or contoured surfaces.

Brush height and pressure on a Kersten Weedbrush are precisely controlled using an adjustable castor wheel, positioned close to the brush, along with a weight placed on top. This system enables users to fine-tune the pressure to suit specific applications, thereby achieving an optimal balance between cleaning performance and the operational lifespan of the brush.

Kersten Weedbrushes operate at low rotation speeds, between 180 and 400 rpm, primarily to reduce stone throwing and vibration. Despite the low speed, high torque ensures a great finish. The reduced speed minimizes the energy imparted to stones and debris, preventing them from becoming dangerous projectiles. A protective guard further contains material for easier clean-up.
