Managing Weeds sustainably

by Prof. John Moverley

One of our purposes at KerstenUK is to introduce Integrated Weed Management to as many people and organisations as possible.

Therefore, we would like to suggest to you the following article by Prof. John Moverley.

He has graduated in Agriculture and was awarded the Wood Prize for best student in the subject. He was also a chief Executive of the Royal Agricultural Society of England.

His roles included chairman of the Amenity Forum, a Forestry & Woodlands Advisory Committee and Mercia Community Forest. He has been elected President at St Catharine’s College, Cambridge, for the 2018/19 academic year.

It’s worth referencing an article about the focus on the control and management of weeds by such an impressive gentleman, who dedicated his education to these subjects and shares our opinion.

In that article, Moverley not only mentions that weed management is an essential component of sustainability, but also vital for anyone concerned with the maintenance and development in amenity and sports spaces. He points out the negative impact that lack of care and maintenance has on the environment and people.

Furthermore, he also fills us in the National Action Plan (NAP) for the Sustainable Use of Pesticides, that every country had to have, which defines legal requirements and guidance, applicable to all involved in weed, pest and disease management in agriculture and horticulture, prior to the UK leaving the European community.

This article, which will only take a few minutes of your time, provides a comprehensive overview of the subject. We really enjoyed it and wanted to share it with you.
